The Buyer will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services. Work directives will include guidelines from our German headquarters. The Buyer is also responsible for management techniques and practices appropriate with purchasing practices and policies within the automotive manufacturing industry.

Supply Chain Manager
Location: Russell Springs, KY – On-site
$70,000 - $80k
3-5 years’ experience minimum
Manufacturing + International background required
Automotive preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
oResponsible for developing new suppliers, including:
researching new vendors for benchmarking,
qualifying new vendors,
determining suppliers for MRO parts (indirect materials)
developing cost reduction strategies to proceed with negotiations with suppliers to achieve departmental cost reduction target.
oEnsures supplier documentation is valid/current/safely stored and is received in accordance with purchase order (including insurance guarantees, ISO certs, etc.)
oIdentifies, solicits, and selects reliable sources of supply of materials, equipment, and services to support project execution.
oReceives requisitions (analyzes for quality, specification, delivery, and general completeness.)
oAssists with identifying competitive sources, seeking pricing and delivery schedules, selecting suppliers, and placing orders
oNegotiates vendor terms, pricing, and delivery in compliance with budgetary/schedule requirements
oAssists materials clerk as needed in the coordination of activities involved with procuring MRO, chemicals, and equipment
o Works with Engineering to ensure specifications of materials and equipment is provided on-time
oAnalyzes inventory, minimum order quantity, and lead times to maintain demand and safety stock requirements
oResponsible for minimizing any stock out positions by planning accordingly to lessen impact of vendor delays or extended lead times.
oPrepares purchase orders, controls prices, and ensures delivery of materials and equipment to meet objectives
oProvides agreed approvals and supporting documentation for payment of invoices
oMaintains detailed records of issued Purchase orders
oManages on-time delivery performance and lead times in adherence with vendors, quotes, and resolve any constraints and expedites when necessary
oIdentifies and champions opportunities for continuous improvement and better efficiencies
oReviews service contracts as deemed appropriate and necessary
oFollows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws
oComplies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
oOther duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience, Competencies and Education
An experienced worker with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing field. An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, good judgment and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual who has great attention to detail. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. An excellent negotiator who is experienced in contracts. Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or equivalent experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel required.
